Site No 90 - Ribe Camping

When we arrived around mid-afternoon on the last day of a bank holiday the site was packed with mainly Danish folk enjoying themselves. It was, never the less, spotlessly clean not a single piece of paper or discarded cigarette butt marred the scene.

The receptionist was friendly and very helpful suggesting where the bigger pitches were and although she allocated us a pitch we were told if we didn’t like it or preferred another just go there and to let her know later - as it happened the allocated pitch suited us fine. The pitches all seem of a generous size and not far from us, at an additional fee of between €8 and €14 per day (depending on the season) is what they call a rotational pitch - your caravan and awning go on what is in effect a large turntable that tracks the sun so you have all day sun, when there is sun, shining in your awning

This site is one of the biggest we have ever stayed on (so big we have taken to using our bicycles if we have to visit the shop or reception) but it is arranged in smaller areas so that it does not feel anywhere as big as it actually is. There are a large number of seasonal pitches but they are kept beautifully with the vans (seemingly) a measured distance apart and each one with its smart new looking Isabella awning, quite unlike some of the dreadful seasonal pitch horrors you see in some other European countries.

Like everything on site the facilities are new and absolutely spotless with three or four blocks to choose from. The block nearest our pitch has family facilities (at an extra charge) and unisex toilet and shower facilities. Each of the toilet stalls has its own basin, soap dispenser and hand drying facilities and the shower stalls are big enough to keep your kit dry.

The site boasts many family facilities from swimming pool to table tennis to go-cart and bike hire to football pitch to bouncy cushion, the list goes on and on.

When you arrive each person in your party is issued with a plastic card which gives access to the site, operates the showers and the washing machines (the cost is then automatically added to your account) etc., etc.

This is without question the best run camp site we have ever stayed on and if in the area again would certainly return here.
